Question 1

1. List and discuss the various kinds of variables in Java programming      5 marks
2. Data types in Java are the building blocks, give a detailed explanations of the various types of data types with appropriate examples                         - 7 marks
3. Lists the various in-built packages of Java that you know                         - 5.5 marks

Question 2

1. List any 6 independent libraries for input/output operations in Ada    - 6 marks
2. List any 10 data types in COBOL                                                        - 5 marks
3. State any five name rules in COBOL                                                   - 6.5 marks

Question 3

1. Using appropriate examples of each, describe the three categories of the loop structure in Ada   - 9 marks
2. What are packages? Explain the parts of packages in Ada            - 3.5 marks
3. In window XP environment, give examples of 5 settings that can be controlled using the control panel   - 5 marks       

Question 4

1. With appropriate examples enumerate any five basic categories of commands used in SQL to perform various functions   - 10 marks
2. What are data definition languages in SQL? Give any four examples of the commands  - 4.5 marks
3. Explain the rationale for the installation of BIOS prior to Linux operating systems installation?  - 3 marks

Question 5

1. There are 5 independent libraries for input/output operations in Ada. Explain them -7 marks
2. Using at least two examples each, list any six operators in Ada programming language    -7.5 marks
3. Why are control structures necessary in programming   - 4 marks
