 1a)     Mention two (2) environment factors each that could cause physical disability during

the prenatal, peri-natal and post-natal periods of child development.                         (12 marks)

  b)      As early childhood educator, describe any four (4) points you would highlight while

            explaining to parents the socio-emotional development of their preschool-aged children.                             (12 marks)

  c)       Explain the principle of cephalo-caudal development.                                                      (3 marks)

  d)      Explain the principle of proximo-distal development.                                                       (3 marks)

2a)      Imagine that you are a teacher in nursery school. One child in the school throws a tantrum whenever he wants to get his way. You have called her parents for a discussion. When you ask them as to how they deal with the child’s behaviour, they replied “oh! When he does something like that, we do as he wants. It is so much simpler to agree with him. At least there is peace after that”. How would you respond to the parents’ statement using the principle of reinforcement as basis for discussion?             (Not more than five (5) sentences)                         (8 marks)
