Q1a).   Using the definition and characteristics of a profession, do you think that teaching is a profession? (14marks)

   (b). The NPF has a statement that “all teachers in our educational institutions, from

pre- primary to university will be professionally trained… How are Nigerian professional teachers trained? (8 marks)

(c).   Distinguish between pre- service training of teachers and in- service training of the teachers.   (3 marks)

Q2.       Teachers have been classified into many groups according to how they care about their work and the students they teach. What are the most common groups and their characteristics? (15 marks)

Q3.       There is a saying that to improve the society, you must improve the school, to improve the school, you must improve the teacher. What are the qualities and more concrete and practical qualities of an improved teacher?  (15 marks)

Q4.       Why is the teacher’ status regarded as low despite the fact that teaching profession was of noble origin?
